    Inter reached Kilimanjaro peak

The expedition to Kilimanjaro mountain (5 895) - dedicated to the 10th universary of Inter - was successful. In September 2006 the flag of Inter TV Channel was mounted on the Europe's highest point.

The documentary series "The Peaks of the World" by journalist Andriy Tsaplienko is the most ambitious project on Ukrainian television. Never did Ukrainians have explored the seven highest mountains of the Earth, but the team of Inter dared to accept the challenge.

The series began with the expeditions to the highest points in Ukraine and Western Europe. Last year the brave team succeeded in mountaineering Mont Blanc and Goverla. The team members also explored the cultural ties of the peoples living in the mountains of France and Ukraine.

This year a new task was ahead - to explore the highest mountain in Africa, the mysterious Kilimanjaro. In September 2006 the reunited team of ten has reached the point 5895 of African continent.

The exploration team headed by Oleksandr Dmitriev was joined by two journalist (Andriy Tsaplienko of Inter TV Channel and Dmitro Komarov of Komsomolskaya Pravda daily newspaper, two cameramen (Vadim Revun and Oleksandr Derkach), top Ukrainian businessman Oleg Logvinov, a young girl and two professional alpinists - ten participants in total. However only six of them reached the very pick of the mountain.

Even Andriy Tsaplienko, the experienced and brave extreme traveler, admitted that physically it was very hard to ascent this time. 5895 meters is not the highest point he succeeded to reach though. Andriy Tsaplienko: "Actually I have crawled to the peak on my hands and knees. And there was a moment when I felt that it does not worth the trouble. But I had a wish to complete the film and it overcame".

The new film by Andriy Tsaplienko The Snows of Kilimanjaro is twofold - the first part 'The Climb' is about the people reaching the peak and how they feel in extreme situations. The other part tells about the unknown world of African tribes living at the foot of Kilimanjaro.

The major goal of the climb was to show the culture, history, customs, traditions, and some rituals of masai tribe, that as a rule are closed for the strangers.

With the The Snows of Kilimanjaro Inter launches the discovery-like programs on domestic television.
